Project Description

Amsterdam Soho House

The art collection at Amsterdam Soho House reimagines the long, prestigious Dutch art tradition through contemporary eyes. The collection of nearly 500 artworks is comprised of around 60% Dutch artists and all the international artists included have responded to Dutch art history in some way.

The curatorial threads focus on landscape, still life and vanitas and self-portraiture. The Self Portraits are a love letter to Rembrandt, who painted his own likeness nearly 40 times. Artists in the self-portrait collection on the main club floor include Ryan Gander, Tom Gidley, Sue Webster, Fiona Banner, Ming Wong, David Horvitz, Billy Childish, Maaike Schoorel, John Beard.

The Still Life collection in Cecconis features Keith Tyson, Mat Collishaw, Fleur van Dodewaard, Zoe Buckman, Tai Shan Schierenberg, Gordon Cheung, Santo Talone and Jess Albarn. The House includes a site specific installation by Studio Drift and bespoke deckchairs by Lily Van Der Stokker.
